Olympic hopeful’s progress on track
We are delighted to report on the progress of Olympic hopeful Katrina Wootton who we are proud to continue to sponsor.
After a 13-month absence, due to illness, Katrina made her return to competitive racing in March at the UK Championships & World Cross Country Trials, followed by a fifth place finish at Manchester’s Trafford 10km a week later.
It was a great achievement after being away from competition for over a year and we are all incredibly impressed with her comeback.
For the last few weeks Katrina has been undergoing a punishing altitude training schedule in the mountains near Albuquerque, U.S.A. which has gone well. Next up is hopefully the 10km BUPA Great Manchester Run on May 15, followed by a return to the track to maintain her fitness levels. All this is a push to reach the London 2012 Olympics.
Coventry will have a key role to play in the 2012 Olympics. The stadium at Coventry Ricoh will play host to 12 football matches during the Games, including the women’s Bronze medal match, and has also been confirmed as a London 2012 “Live Site” venue, with a big screen installed at Coventry Transport Museum.
With such a strong City involvement, we are right behind our local Olympic hopeful, and will keep you posted of Katrina’s progress. In the meantime, follow her blog at www.katrinawootton.co.uk
