My company, which provided machine relocation services for Coventry's growing light engineering industry, and I were referred to Cranfield Business Recovery Limited by my accountant. The company had been trading since 1961 and had an excellent reputation for providing a cost effective and efficient service to local industry.
The company began to suffer from customers elongating payment terms and an increasingly competitive market during 2003. Although the company undertook a rationalisation exercise and reduced the workforce, the decline in work started to have an effect on the profitability of the company.
It was clear that the trading environment for the company had changed significantly and after working with Cranfield Business Recovery to explore all the available options I decided that the correct course of action was to cease to trade.
As a result of recognising my problems early and receiving good advice from Cranfield Recovery at the early stages of the company’s difficulties, I expect preferential creditors to be paid in full and unsecured creditors to receive a large dividend.
Cranfield Business Recovery were very supportive and eased the process of closing the company and I was very pleased at the level of empathy and advice given to my long standing members of staff. Cranfield Business Recovery was professional and put a lot of energy into maximising the realisations of the company’s assets.
