The recession has made for remarkably challenging conditions in construction and although the business was surviving it needed a good 12 months worth of improved trading to clear modest debts and return to profit once more. It seemed however there was insufficient new work to recover the position within a reasonable timescale and hence there was a risk of incurring still further debt whilst waiting for the recovery. As a director I had to act responsibly and placing the business I started from my home 8 years ago into liquidation was a very distressing proposition. Thanks to the advice, care and diligence of Cranfield Business Recovery the whole process has been far less stressful than I had imagined. From my very first meeting with Brett Barton I knew I was making the right decision, my business still had significant value in its debtor book and with some work still in progress I knew valued and respected creditors were very likely to receive much if not all money owing. The creditors remain my greatest concern in all of this, the process is still ongoing but from the regular updates received from Cranfield I am very confident of a successful outcome thanks to the excellent initial advice and professional response provided by Brett and his team.

After first speaking to Tony Mitchell, straight away we both felt that here was somebody who could really help us and right from the start of his involvement we felt the burden of the pressure ease. Although Administration was our least favoured option, it has allowed us a fresh start and we are confident about the future.

Nobody sets out in business to fail. Unfortunately in the present times of economic difficulties, however it happens, the reduced level of incoming work and the delayed payment of invoices, combined with a two week break for public holidays can have a devastating effect on a business cash flow etc. It was this combination of facts that led to the failure of our company. Following a meeting of the directors with our accountants and after much soul searching it was decided that it would be prudent to stop trading.
Our accountants suggested that we call on the assistance of Cranfield Business Recovery for their help and advice. Very professionally Mr Brett Barton and his team were called into action. At the initial meeting Brett took time to explore the possibilities of a recovery plan with the directors but unfortunately it was agreed to suspend trading. He arrived on the appointed Monday morning and explained in sympathetic and comprehensive terms to the staff the situation the company had found itself in. He also explained the procedures which would follow with regards to redundancy payments and looking for alternative employment. The questions which were raised by the staff were answered fully and in terms that they understood.
During the days and weeks which have followed Brett and his team have kept the directors fully informed of each step which has been completed, in the final winding up of the company, and while this matter is not yet finalised, we feel sure that we will reach a satisfactory conclusion, for suppliers, customers and the directors.
As I said at the start, nobody sets out to fail, but if this should happen I feel sure that we could not have called on a more professional company to assist in bringing this matter to a conclusion.

Cranfield Business Recovery was recommended to me by my accountant and we initially had a meeting with Tony Mitchell regarding my company’s financial situation.
Mr Mitchell quickly grasped our position and explained in easy to understand language the options open to us. Cranfield subsequently helped me place the company into voluntary liquidation and throughout were supportive and very user friendly.
If you find yourself in any sort of financial difficulties, I would not hesitate recommending that you speak to Cranfield for advice and assistance.

Cranfield are always readily available to assist when needed.
As a pattern and tool making company, we were hit hard by the recession in 2009 and we were forced to look into dramatic changes within the company. Cranfield have made it possible for our company which was founded in 1939 to continue to trade.
We have and continue to receive tremendous help and support from Cranfield, their advice has enabled us to get the necessary support from our creditors to enter into a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).
The CVA period is three years. Cranfield is instructing and guiding us through the process; keeping us fully informed each step of the way on the procedures, legalities and actions to take.
Their knowledge, efficiency and professionalism have helped the process to progress effectively without undue stress and disruption.
At Cranfield Business Recovery Ltd. Brett Barton, Patrick Murtagh and the team understand our problems and provide excellent assistance; we would not hesitate to recommend them.

Putting ones company into Voluntary Liquidation, albeit Solvent is a daunting prospect and probably a once in a lifetime experience. The Cranfield team carefully explained the procedures and responsibilities of the Directors which was very reassuring. The process went like clockwork, Cranfield were on hand as and when needed to resolve the issues that arose, completing the whole process most satisfactorily.

Throughout the process of putting my company into liquidation, admittedly a daunting task, Cranfield kept all their promises and made sure I was fully informed of the situation all the way through. I was under no illusions of what would happen for each step of the process. I got on very well with the liquidators Tony and Brett and under the circumstances, Cranfield made the whole experience as comfortable as it possibly could be.

After trading for over 20 years it was devastating when just over a year ago the company, which I was a director of, went into voluntary liquidation. At first we thought it was going to be a humiliating and painful experience – and in some ways it was! However, with the help on Tony and his team the process turned out to be much easier than we had feared. They were always at hand to answer questions and generally supported us where and when we needed it. I would thoroughly recommend them to any company who had the bad luck to find themselves in a similar position.

My company, which provided machine relocation services for Coventry's growing light engineering industry, and I were referred to Cranfield Business Recovery Limited by my accountant. The company had been trading since 1961 and had an excellent reputation for providing a cost effective and efficient service to local industry.
The company began to suffer from customers elongating payment terms and an increasingly competitive market during 2003. Although the company undertook a rationalisation exercise and reduced the workforce, the decline in work started to have an effect on the profitability of the company.
It was clear that the trading environment for the company had changed significantly and after working with Cranfield Business Recovery to explore all the available options I decided that the correct course of action was to cease to trade.
As a result of recognising my problems early and receiving good advice from Cranfield Recovery at the early stages of the company’s difficulties, I expect preferential creditors to be paid in full and unsecured creditors to receive a large dividend.
Cranfield Business Recovery were very supportive and eased the process of closing the company and I was very pleased at the level of empathy and advice given to my long standing members of staff. Cranfield Business Recovery was professional and put a lot of energy into maximising the realisations of the company’s assets. Ultimately I am hopeful that their efforts will minimise the loss incurred by my creditors.Managing Director, Machine Relocation Company, Coventry, Warwickshire - Creditors Voluntary Liquidation (CVL)
